Gold and Silver Prices Surge on MCX Amid Geopolitical Friction; Check City-Wise 24K, 22K, 18K Rates

Gold futures surged over 1 per cent on the MCX on July 24, touching Rs 1,42,848 per 10 grams amid global geopolitical friction. Silver futures also jumped over 1.5 per cent, touching an intraday peak of Rs 2,21,780 per kilogram.

Gold and silver prices moved higher in Indian markets on July 24 as ongoing geopolitical friction between the US and Iran continued to create volatility across global commodity exchanges.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold futures for August delivery jumped 1.03 per cent or Rs 1,460 to touch an intraday high of Rs 1,42,848 per 10 grams around 11:20 am. Silver futures for September delivery climbed 1.54 per cent or Rs 3,380 to hit an intraday peak of Rs 2,21,780 per kg.

At the last trading count, August gold futures settled slightly lower at Rs 1,42,741 per 10 grams—up Rs 1,353 or 0.96 per cent—after dipping to a session low of Rs 1,42,157. Silver futures held at Rs 2,21,402 per kg, recording a gain of Rs 3,002 or 1.37 per cent after touching a session low of Rs 2,19,200.

In the retail physical market, 24-carat gold in New Delhi was priced at Rs 14,632 per gram, with 22-carat gold at Rs 13,414 per gram and 18-carat at Rs 10,978 per gram. Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Kerala saw 24-carat gold holding at Rs 14,617 per gram, 22-carat at Rs 13,399 per gram, and 18-carat at Rs 10,963 per gram.

Chennai recorded higher figures, with 24-carat gold at Rs 14,729 per gram, 22-carat at Rs 13,501 per gram, and 18-carat at Rs 11,316 per gram. Coimbatore and Madurai mirrored Chennai’s rates.

In Kolkata, 24-carat gold stood at Rs 14,617 per gram, 22-carat at Rs 13,399 per gram, and 18-carat at Rs 10,963 per gram. Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Surat, and Patna listed 24-carat gold at Rs 14,622 per gram, 22-carat at Rs 13,404 per gram, and 18-carat at Rs 10,968 per gram. Jaipur, Lucknow, and Chandigarh aligned with Delhi’s retail prices.

Across retail outlets nationwide, 1 gram of 24K gold dipped marginally by Re 1 from previous levels to stand at Rs 14,617. An 8-gram packet of 24K gold was priced at Rs 1,16,936, 10 grams at Rs 1,46,170, and 100 grams at Rs 14,61,700. Corresponding 22K prices stood at Rs 13,399 for 1 gram, Rs 1,07,192 for 8 grams, Rs 1,33,990 for 10 grams, and Rs 13,39,900 for 100 grams.

Physical silver in retail markets nationwide was priced at Rs 239.90 per gram and Rs 2,39,900 per kilogram, showing a slight drop from Rs 240 per gram and Rs 2,40,000 per kilogram recorded the previous day.

Regional variation persisted in silver retail pricing. Chennai, Hyderabad, Kerala, Coimbatore, Madurai, Vijayawada, and Bhubaneswar recorded silver at Rs 2,449 for 10 grams and Rs 2,44,900 per kilogram. Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Pune, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, and Lucknow quoted silver at Rs 2,399 for 10 grams and Rs 2,39,900 per kilogram.

Precious metal pricing in India continues to react directly to international spot movements, fluctuations in the US dollar index, industrial demand trends, and local festive buying patterns.
