These are the ingredients you will need to prepare Nepali potatoes:

Ingredients

  • 7-8 potatoes
  • 1/3 cup white sesame seeds
  • 1/2 cup mustard oil
  • One tablespoon ginger
  • A pinch of fenugreek seeds
  • One tablespoon red chilli powder
  • One teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • 3-4 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2/3 cup water
  • Salt to taste
  • 3-4 green chilies
  • Half a cup of fresh coriander
  • One teaspoon of asafoetida powder

Prepare Nepali potatoes quickly in these ways:

First, you must fry the sesame seeds until they become light golden. Then, cool them and grind them to make a powder.

Now boil the potatoes, peel them and make medium-sized pieces.

Then wash the green chillies, slit them and cut them into large pieces.

Mix chopped potatoes, sesame powder, green chillies, salt, and chilli powder in a large bowl.

Put mustard oil in a wok or pan, let it cook and then add fenugreek seeds till they turn dark brown.

After this, add asafoetida and ginger and stir for a minute.

Now pour this hot oil on the potato mixture and mix well.

After mixing, add water, lemon juice and chopped fresh coriander and mix well.

Cover the pan or wok with a vessel and keep it for about half an hour so the spices’ flavours come well in the potatoes.

After this, eat with rice, roti, paratha or puri as you wish.
