Renault is poised to disrupt the mid-size SUV segment once again as it prepares to reveal the official price list for the 2026 Duster tomorrow. Built on the heavily localized R-GMP (Renault Group Modular Platform), this third-generation model transitions from a rugged budget workhorse to a premium, tech-laden contender.
The new Duster is not merely a global transplant; it features “Himalayan motifs” on the fenders and a unique “Mountain Jade Green” paint shade inspired by Indian landscapes.
While the global model makes do with a smaller sunroof, the India-spec version arrives with a full panoramic unit to meet local buyer preferences.
Engine Specifications and Performance
Renault is moving away from diesel, offering a three-pronged petrol strategy. The flagship E-Tech hybrid utilizes a 1.8-litre engine paired with a 1.4kWh battery—nearly double the capacity of the units found in rivals like the Maruti Grand Vitara—allowing for up to 80% EV-only driving in city traffic.
Dimensions and Road Capability
The 2026 Duster stands taller and wider than the Hyundai Creta, offering a 2,657mm wheelbase that translates to superior cabin room.
Its 212mm ground clearance remains a benchmark for the segment, complemented by an approach angle of 26.9 degrees and a departure angle of 34.7 degrees, ensuring it retains its legendary “go-anywhere” DNA.
Inside, the cabin features a fighter-jet-inspired cockpit with a 10.1-inch OpenR Link touchscreen running Google built-in software. Standard safety equipment includes six airbags, while the top-tier trims receive 17 advanced driver assistance features (ADAS) specifically calibrated for Indian road conditions.
Market Competition
The Duster enters a crowded arena, facing off against the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
To gain an edge, Renault is offering a “Renault Forever” program that includes a 7-year or 1,50,000 km warranty, a move aimed at reassuring buyers about the reliability of the new hybrid technology.
Pre-bookings are currently active via the Renault “R-Pass” for a token amount of ₹21,000. While the turbo-petrol variants will hit the roads in April, buyers eyeing the high-efficiency E-Tech hybrid will have to wait until November 2026 for deliveries.
