Dehradun: A highly coordinated strike by the Rajpur Police and the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) intercepted an interstate drug trafficking operation, resulting in the seizure of 112 grams of heroin worth approximately ₹34 lakh. Authorities arrested 35-year-old Rahul Chaudhary, alias Jogi, a resident of Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh, near the Dhoran bridge. The operation exposes a growing trend of smugglers exploiting the porous western Uttar Pradesh-Uttarakhand borders to transport high-grade narcotics into the valley.
Acting on verified intelligence during a routine sweep of local hotels and vehicles on Sunday, the joint team cornered the suspect’s Maruti Swift (UK-08-AK-9703). Police immediately seized the vehicle and booked Chaudhary under sections 8, 21, 29, and 60 of the NDPS Act at the Rajpur police station (FIR No. 52/26).
During interrogation, Chaudhary confessed to purchasing the heroin from local suppliers in Saharanpur and Bijnor. An addict himself, he admitted to peddling the contraband at inflated prices to Dehradun residents to finance his own dependence and lifestyle.
This bust aligns directly with Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s “Drug-Free Devbhoomi 2025” mandate. To meet the strict 2025 eradication deadline, the state government has directed the ANTF and local police to intensify proactive surveillance on supply routes connecting neighboring states.
The interdiction team was led by Sub-Inspector Arjun Gusain from the IT Park outpost and Sub-Inspector Deepak Dwivedi from the Jakhan outpost, alongside Constable Mukesh and ANTF Head Constable Vikram Singh. Local authorities are now tracing the suspect’s call records to dismantle the broader Saharanpur-Bijnor supplier network.
